Hi everyone and welcome to my blog. As you step into the wonderful world of my mind, you’ll find that I am really passionate about Human Rights, cinema, and the latest news.
My name is Rokia Chambers and I am a Public Relations major at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am a third year, a Campus Curlz member, and as of today, I am the Communications Committee leader for Amnesty VCU. *clink clink* With my degree, I hope to work in the movie industry or my former childhood organization, Girl Scouts of the USA. I’m really passionate about representation and diverification, so I want these two fields to reach as many underrepresented and marginalized people as possible. I hope to bring different cultures and people to the forefront of organization campaigns and outreach.
Social media in some way shape or form has implemented itself into our lives. We have found ways to communicate and share our experiences. And social media has a big influence in our we see ourselves. Businesses and corporations are a big part of that in who they choose to be the face for their promotional campaign and who they prioritize when it comes to their target publics. This is something that will improve the way we deal with our social media along with how we see each other. Representation Matters. Within my social media course, I want to learn how I can reach people; how I can connect with people. How do I build an online presence where everybody feels like they are represented. With this blog, I want to talk about current news regarding social justice and mediums of art and movies that don’t get the limelight they deserve. I would like to analyze how big corporations and organizations handle their social media in terms of extending to other audiences that are far from the norm. I would like to express some criticisms and share my thoughts on controversies regarding organizations/ businesesses and their social media.
For this blog, I hope to share tips and tools that I’ll learn from my education, like building and managing online reputation, which you can find more about here: https://bit.ly/2V2hn7l. Until then, I’ll see you soon.
